What's Trending for Fall 2022

Pumpkin spice lattes and cool, crisp air, here we come! Fall is here - the best season of the year. (This is a proven fact!) As cooler weather starts to move in and we get closer to the holidays, trends begin to change. We see this shift in many different areas, including interior design. While, yes, your interior design decor and style can stay for however long it fits you, it is still fun to get ideas as new trends emerge. Last year, we saw many eco-friendly trends, warm neutrals, and sage greens. You can read more about the 2021 trends in our blog post, Fall 2021 Interior Design Trends. For 2022, we are seeing some recurring ideas along with some new ones - earth tones, natural wood, and brushed metal. These trends can be seen in pillows, furniture, lighting, small accessories, and even tile.

We are going to look at how you can incorporate these fall trends into your home for all seasons through tile.

Earth Tones

We have talked a lot about the comeback of warm neutrals all throughout this year on our blog (Check this out - The Comeback of Warm Neutrals). For this fall, we are also seeing the addition of earth tones to compliment these gorgeous neutrals. This trend has been building throughout the year, but we are going to see continued growth throughout this season. These colors can include warm tones of oatmeal, terra cotta, wheat, linen, mushroom, and cinnamon. Is it just us or do these colors remind you a lot of fall? What a coincidence!

Here are a few earth tones to consider for your interior design:

The great thing about incorporating these trending colors into your space during this time is that they work perfectly with the fall season. It will seem as if you have decorated by simply updating! These colors create such a cozy feeling for one’s space - perfect for any time but especially during the fall months.

Natural Wood

Do we see a trend here? Earth tones… natural wood… These are trends that connect us back with nature. We have seen nature-inspired trends ever since the pandemic. It seems that people have been focused on grounding and calming spaces since many people spend a lot more of their time in their homes. This trend has continued to grow through the fall of 2022. We are seeing a rise in natural wood, particularly warm-toned woods. This lighter wood tone creates a more spacious and peaceful feel. It looks light and airy in any space and can make a room feel warm and inviting.

This natural wood look can actually be incorporated into your space by using tile. There are many porcelain products that resemble natural wood. With porcelain products often being more durable and long lasting in comparison to the wood products themselves, these porcelain products can be a great option for creating that warm, nature-inspired space.

Brushed Metal

What does this brushed metal trend remind you of? We see quite a similarity between this and the terra cotta and cinnamon earth tones that we spoke about earlier. Oftentimes, trends go hand in hand. This definitely seems to be the case here. Many people are applying this brushed metal trend through light fixtures, hardware, or small accessories. However, this can also be applied to tile. You can achieve this brushed metal look by using matte gold or bronze-colored tile. The image above contains a terra cotta brick with a bronze-like glaze. Can you image how gorgeous this would be as a kitchen backsplash? The image below contains a large format glass tile. Both products give that copper look.

Styling These Trends for YOU

With new seasons come new trends! This fall, we are going to be seeing lots of earth tones, natural wood, and brushed metal. You may be thinking, “Why do I need to change my interior design for every season?” Well the truth is, you don’t really need to! The point of these trends is to give us ideas on what we would like to see in our own homes. Just because something is no longer “on trend” does not mean that it is out of style. You get to choose what works best for you! Take what’s on trend and make it your own. If you like it, use it. If you don’t, then you don’t. Your home will always look best when it looks the most like you!

This fall season, we encourage you to be you! With that in mind, what design inspiration are you using for the fall?
